Search Engine Optimization Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines (google, yahoo etc) via the "natural" or un-paid search results. In general, the earlier (or higher on the page), and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine's users. This gives a website web presence. How does it work ? The search engines send their “spiders” around the internet to look for content.  When a spider goes through your website it is trying to determine what the pages are about.  If your pages have been well-optimized, then the spiders will understand the subject of the page and make the results available for the search engine users.   How Often Do I Need to Optimize My Website?  Once the search engines have indexed your website they visit periodically to check for new information.  If there is new information they will crawl your website (a good thing) but if there is no new information they will leave (not a good thing).  Keeping the content fresh is important, especially on the home page.   It is advisable to Add new content every month.   Content and Design Copyright ©  2010 AMC Web Design
